After a long search for an appropriate site, the British Embassy in Manila finally decided on McKinley Hill in Taguig City. The new embassy sits on a 1.5 hectare property, gently sloping down from the American Battle Memorial to the rear and leveling off at the C5 road below. The building design, in collaboration with Denton Corker Marshall of London, denotes a fortress-like presence, with limited strips of glass and metal cladding on the exterior. This is softened by lush landscaping all around.
A visa section allows direct access for visa applicants, while a covered pergola provides a separate entrance for embassy personnel.
