Ateneo Rizal Library
Location: | Quezon City |
GFA: | 7,199 square meters |
Completion date: | 2009 |
In 2006, The Ateneo de Manila University decided to build a new University library to house its expanding collection, which the existing Rizal library could no longer accommodate.
The Library is divided into two sections, namely the South Wing for circulation of books, and the North Wing for offices and audio-visual functions. A link between the two wings contains an atrium with a water feature, as well as stairs and lifts to the upper levels.
The new Library is the last remaining element that will frame one of the University’s quadrangles, with the old Rizal Library directly across. Accents of the facade are in brick, to keep consistency with the other buildings surrounding the quadrangle.
